BA-IVT Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Panel for Wall Tiling
The BA-IVT Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Panel for Wall Tiling is a recessed access panel with a welded aluminum frame and drywall inlay base. It accepts tile directly on its surface, providing access to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems while remaining nearly invisible once tiled and grouted.
The access panel is constructed with a welded high-grade aluminum frame and a moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard inlay compatible with both ½" and ⅝" drywall. This construction supports long-term durability and reliable performance in wet or high-humidity environments such as bathrooms, kitchens, and utility spaces.
Door operation is controlled by concealed touch latches that allow top-to-bottom opening with safety chains included for panels 12" x 12" and larger. It also features a ⅛" (3 mm) reveal between the frame and door, which becomes nearly invisible once tiled and grouted.
The BA-IVT is intended for wall installations only and requires a rough opening equal to the door size plus ⅜" on each side. Custom sizing options are available to accommodate project-specific tile layouts and access requirements.

Why Should You Use the BA-IVT?
- Blends Invisibly Into Tile: The tight ⅛" reveal aligns cleanly with grout lines, allowing the panel to disappear into tiled wall surfaces once installed.
- Simplifies Tiling and Maintenance: The detachable door can be tiled separately from the frame, improving installation accuracy and making future access straightforward.
- Performs Reliably in Wet Environments: Its standard moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard supports reliable performance in bathrooms, kitchens, and other damp areas.
- Provides Controlled, Secure Access: Touch latches provide quick, simple access without visible hardware. Meanwhile, the safety chain system on larger panels prevents accidental opening, which is important when the door is heavy with tile.
- Supports Custom Sizing Requirements: Custom sizes are available up to 24" x 36" or an equivalent perimeter of 112", so you can fit the panel to your specific access needs without over-sizing and adding unnecessary weight from tile.
Installation Steps
- Mark the Location: Find the ideal installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the frame's interior dimensions and add 3/8" (9 mm) to each side for the rough opening.
- Cut the Opening: On the wall or ceiling, draw two perpendicular lines positioned 1¼"–4" (32–102 mm) from any stud or joist. Confirm the lines are square, then cut a clean opening.
- Secure the Panel: Detach the door hatch and install the frame on its own, orienting the latches upward for wall installations. Slide the frame through the opening, pull it firmly into position, and fasten screws no more than 4" (102 mm) apart.
- Apply the Tile: Test that the door opens and closes properly before tiling the hatch and wall separately.
- Install the Safety Cable: Clean off any grout residue with a damp cloth, then secure the safety cable.
